Priming - $30–$40/hour for labor. Many of the materials above need to be primed, but not all do. If you’re changing paint colors from dark to light or light to dark, use a color similar to the top coat. That way you’re less likely to need extra coats over the standard two. Prime with a flat or eggshell paint. You can ask your paint store to add tint to the primer to match it with the top coat color. Hammer in exposed nails and spray them with a metal primer to prevent rust. Louisville Home Painting

Before homes can be painted, a lot of prep work needs to go into the project. In most cases, a lot of this prep work is factored into the hourly rate for the painters. This includes, but is not limited to pressure washing, removing loose paint, taping off windows, doors, and light fixtures, sanding 10, removing old caulk from around windows and doors, patching small holes, priming and priming stains.
Maintaining a wet edge is one of the most important techniques in painting (Photo 3). Simply put, always try to brush or roll back into paint that’s still wet. The result will be a uniform, seamless-looking coat of paint. The larger the area you’re painting, the more difficult this task becomes. Use natural breaks like door and window casings or courses of siding to divide large areas into manageable chunks. Then complete each section without stopping. Paint three or four courses of siding from one end to the other, for example. Then move down to the next four courses and repeat the process.
If you're concerned about the time it may take to paint your home's exterior, the best time of year to hire a Dallas house painter is generally in the winter. This is not because it's cooler but because it's usually drier. In Dallas, it shouldn't be too cold to paint, but precipitation levels drop reducing the chance your painter's schedule will get pushed back due to rain.
There are a number of factors that can influence the cost of paint, including the color, the brand, and the location. In addition, the amount of paint or the number of gallons that your home will need for coverage can be influenced by several things including the condition of the siding, the size of the project, and the type of material, with non-porous materials requiring less paint than porous materials and materials in good condition requiring less paint than materials not in good repair. For applying paint to large areas of shingles, stucco or brick, buy a roller setup consisting of a heavy-duty roller cage (this is the handle part); top-quality 1/2-in. nap roller covers, one for each color (you’ll wash and reuse them); and a roller screen (Photo 4). Standard 9-in. rollers are good for large, flat areas. Buy the 7-in. size for rolling siding and other narrow areas if your house has them. You’ll also need a few clean 1-gallon paint cans and a clean 5-gallon bucket. Having a boom box on hand could just save your mind while painting a house.
Load flat or eggshell exterior paint color into paint sprayer. Depending on intensity of hue, apply one or two coats of flat or eggshell exterior paint to entire house. Be sure to work your way from top to bottom in a smooth, controlled manner, overlapping each stroke by 8 inches. TIP: When changing exterior color from light to dark or dark to light, start with a coat of primer to ensure proper coverage. Primer is not necessary when a fresh coat of existing color is being applied. Louisville House Painting
