Often referred to as acrylic primer 2, latex-based primer is reduced with water. This primer’s advantages include quick drying time, easy clean-up, and fewer volatile organic compounds or VOCs. It applies to wood, metal, fiber cement, and masonry surfaces. The main disadvantages to a latex primer are that it chips easier than other products and is less effective in breaking down UV lighting. The cost for latex primer is $20 to $80 per gallon. Spread a layer of paint on the door parts surrounding the panels. Work quickly from one end of the door to the other so you’re always brushing back over wet paint. Spread paint on about one-third of the door before smoothing it out with long, sweeping brush strokes. Then move to the next third and brush back toward the finished section. Plan the order to follow the wood grain (see numbers on Photo 10). Don’t forget to paint the top and bottom edges of the door to seal out moisture.
Once you’ve got a small area covered, you’re ready for step two, laying off the paint (Photo 3). First use your brush to spread the paint evenly over the surface and then finish up with long, continuous brush strokes. The goal is to completely cover (but not necessarily hide) the previous layer of paint or primer with a smooth, even layer of paint. This step must be done immediately after the paint is laid on and before the paint starts to dry. Home Painters Louisville CO

While many people choose to paint all the walls in a room a single color, it’s also possible to paint your walls in different styles as well. These include using an accent wall, or a single wall that’s a different color than the rest, two-tone walls, which involves painting the lower half a different color than the upper half, using patterns or stencils to create decorative elements on the walls, painting a mural, or faux painting techniques such as sponging. Painting exterior windows depend on the size of the window and the number of panes. To calculate the price for windows larger than 15 sq. ft., add 1’ to each side of the window and then multiply width x length. Add two sq. ft. for each window pane for painting the mullions, muntins, and sash and then multiply your total sq. ft. by $84/100 sq. ft. So a 4’ x 4’ window with 4 panes will come to a total of 44 sq. ft. x $84/100 sq. ft. = $37. Home Painters Louisville CO
When considering painting styles, be sure to consider how the colors will interact with one another, as well as the rest of the room. For example, accent walls should always be highly visible, and either be the wall you see first when entering the room or the wall that your focus will be on once you’re in the room to be the most effective. The accent wall color can be repeated as smaller accents on pillows and throw rugs throughout the room.

When repainting a home that has been painted before, the material should first be pressure washed and any loose paint needs to be removed. If necessary, repairs may also need to be made to the existing siding or surface material, and any older caulk 9 may need to be replaced around windows and doors. Depending on the condition of the siding and whether you are making a significant color change, you may also need to prime this siding first before painting. All of this can potentially mean that repainting can result in higher overall costs, although this does come down in part to the quality of the siding.
Supplies and Equipment – Scraping, sanding, and stripping tools and supplies; patching compound; power washer rental; primer; caulk; masking supplies; painters’ tape; ladders and scaffolding; paint pans; brushes, sprayers, and roller brushes all cost money, even if you do it yourself. Consider all of those tools and equipment sitting in your garage for the rest of your life vs. paying an experienced painter to do it all for you at a price that saves you weeks of time. Expect to pay $5–$6 per 100 sq. ft. for supplies and materials. House Painting Louisville Colorado
