The most commonly requested painting jobs are exterior and interior home painting, but professional house painters have a lot to offer your home. Faux finishes, texturing, and mural or trompe loeil are all decorative painting techniques Dallas home painters specialize in and that you may not be able to pull off yourself. The materials and expertise of faux finishes make these projects a little more expensive, the detail work of texturing and prep work cause these projects to take a little longer. That said, these painting techniques bring an incredible look to your walls and your home décor, in general. Especially if you're going to hire a painter to paint the interior of your home, anyway, you might inquire about doing one room, such as the living room or dining room, with an extra touch.
Once you have the approximate square footage that you’ll need to paint, remember that a gallon of paint generally covers between 250 and 400 square feet. You’ll need more if you’re painting a rough, porous material, or if you want to paint a dark house a much lighter color. Depending on your color choice, you may need a more expensive tinted primer to help with the color transition.
Maintaining a wet edge is one of the most important techniques in painting (Photo 3). Simply put, always try to brush or roll back into paint that’s still wet. The result will be a uniform, seamless-looking coat of paint. The larger the area you’re painting, the more difficult this task becomes. Use natural breaks like door and window casings or courses of siding to divide large areas into manageable chunks. Then complete each section without stopping. Paint three or four courses of siding from one end to the other, for example. Then move down to the next four courses and repeat the process. Louisville Home Painting
The average cost to paint the interior of a house falls between $1.50 and $3.50 per square foot. If you’re doing the ceilings, walls and trim, the cost per square foot will likely fall between $3 and $4. If there is damage to the walls that needs to be repaired before painting can proceed, you’ll pay extra. These are the average costs if you pay a service provider to paint your home for you. You may also choose to do the paint job yourself. House Painting Louisville Colorado

Vinyl siding is often touted as being maintenance-free, but if you want to change the color, it is possible to paint it. Vinyl siding must be cleaned then coated in an adhesive primer before being coated in at least two coats of acrylic latex paint. It, therefore, has a higher cost to paint than other types of siding, with starting costs closer to $3,000-$4,000 for 1,500 sq.ft. Home Painters Louisville CO
A single gallon of paint can run anywhere from $20 to $80 per gallon. Professionals get a contractor discount of anywhere from 25 to 50 percent. For rough siding, like stucco, you’ll need to use 10% to 20% more paint. Some textures, like wood and stucco, require extra paint because they have more surface to cover in a tiny area compared to smooth siding. Use the highest quality exterior paint your budget will allow for your project. It will look the nicest and save you money by offering better coverage and durability. Better coverage means fewer coats and fewer work hours. You’ll also go a few years longer without needing to shell out more cash for a new coat. How do you know how much paint you're paying for? Here's some helpful math: Louisville House Painting

The most popular finish for exteriors, eggshell, has a very light luster with barely any gloss. It gets its name from the fact that the finish looks similar to the shell of an egg. It’s slightly easier to clean than flat paint. Eggshell’s low reflectivity enables it to hide dents and other imperfections more effectively than satin or glossy paints. The application is more forgiving of brush marks and other mistakes. It usually costs $30 to $50 per gallon. Louisville Home Painting
You can expect to pay between $700 to $3,000 to paint wood siding. You’ll end up spending $1 to $3 per square foot, but typically you’ll find this material is cheaper than brick or vinyl. Wood requires some type of sealant, be it paint, stain or oil. Lumber takes well to a wide variety of coverings giving you endless options for modern, contemporary or classic looks. It’ll cost you between $500 and $1,000 to paint the exterior yourself. Not including paint, it’ll cost you no more than $200 to $300 at a home improvement store like Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. You may end up spending more if you buy high-quality products from specialized shops. Professionals can get the same supplies for about half what you’ll pay. Louisville Home Painting
For applying paint to large areas of shingles, stucco or brick, buy a roller setup consisting of a heavy-duty roller cage (this is the handle part); top-quality 1/2-in. nap roller covers, one for each color (you’ll wash and reuse them); and a roller screen (Photo 4). Standard 9-in. rollers are good for large, flat areas. Buy the 7-in. size for rolling siding and other narrow areas if your house has them. You’ll also need a few clean 1-gallon paint cans and a clean 5-gallon bucket. Having a boom box on hand could just save your mind while painting a house.
While many people choose to paint all the walls in a room a single color, it’s also possible to paint your walls in different styles as well. These include using an accent wall, or a single wall that’s a different color than the rest, two-tone walls, which involves painting the lower half a different color than the upper half, using patterns or stencils to create decorative elements on the walls, painting a mural, or faux painting techniques such as sponging.  Louisville Home Painting

Painting a straight line, also called cutting in a line, is another painting technique worth mastering (Photos 7 – 9). Begin by removing excess paint from the brush either by laying it off onto the piece you’re painting or by wiping it on the edge of the can. Then, holding the brush like a pencil with the bristles edgewise (Photo 8), draw down along the line. If too much paint begins to build up under the bristles, threatening to spill across the line, sweep the brush away from the line. Then go back up to the top of the stroke and draw down again, moving the paint closer to the line. Continue this process until you’ve cut in the entire line. Louisville Home Painting

There are many different types and styles of home and architecture, as well as different types of siding and paint. Therefore, the exact amount that you would pay to have your home painted could be influenced by many factors, including the height of the walls, the number of gables and dormers, the type and material of siding, the condition of the siding, how many windows and doors you have, and the type of paint and the number of coats needed. Some types of siding, like brick, will need less paint, while a poorly-kept wood siding may require more paint, so even homes of the same shape and size could have different costs. In addition, making a dramatic change in color could require additional primer 2 or paint to make the change, resulting in both more labor and additional materials costs.
